It’s that time of year of sprucing up the house so i’ve been doing lots of it. I got four estimates before I chose someone who I felt the right one to do the job. Money was not the main factor in my choice of companies to work with. The company is Dixon Painting and Home Improvement, Fernando Dixon co-owner. He had a team of four guys at my house everyday on time. The guys are professionaly dressed, well-manered, and very hard working. They didn’t stop to talk or smoke cigarrettes, they worked all day long until 6:00 pm without stopping, except for lunch. They performed just as Fernando promised. They scraped, sanded, caulked, and primed where there was bare wood. Not a hole or crack was left unsealed. There were many areas of rotten wood which they replaced perfectly. They were neat and worked with precision. Fernando came by each day to check on the progress and to make sure I was happy with the job. The shutters on the house were in good shape structurally, but they looked awful. The paint was chipping and peeling, they needed some TLC badly. Three of four estimators from each company said I needed to replace the shutters which is a big expense itself. Fernando assured me his guys could make them look good again. I was doubtful, but I put my trust in him. The shutters were painted with a primer the same color as the paint and then one coat of paint, they look almost like new. The inside foyer and upstairs hallways were also painted. Being that I was home I watched them protect all the wood trim and the floor, what a nice job they did inside.
The railing and steps to the deck were always painted with a solid stain. They caulked every hole and crack and did a neat job of painting. The deck itself was power washed with a cleaner and bleach. The whole deck almost looks new again. I was home most of the time. I was in and out and up and down the stairs looking at what they were doing. They were on mu house like ants on an ant hill. Every window was open so there was no privacy, but their minds and eyes were on painting not what was inside. I can’t say enough about Dixon Painting and the crew I had. My husband says, ” If you can please my wife, you can please anyone!” This was the first time we have had our house painted by someone else other than ourselves, what a pleasure it was.

Painting Tips Brush Up on your Touch Up

Brush-up on your Touch-up. Always keep leftover paint and store it in a cool, dry place. Inevitably, you will need to do touch-ups, and it’s best to use the original paint (Sherwin Williams recommends reducing the mixture by 10% to 15% with the reducer recommended on the can). If your paint was applied with a roller, use a small trim roller instead of a brush.
